ADT Tryout FAQ's:
What team am I trying out for?
Tryouts are for both the Fall Performance and Winter Competition season. Members from both the Fall and Winter coaching staff will be present at auditions. Dancers may tryout to do one or both seasons and you will indicate this on your formal audition form.
*While it is not the norm that dancers only do one season we have had student athletes, for example, an athlete who plays volleyball, soccer or runs cross country in the fall only do winter competitive season, or if athletes play hockey in the winter, they only do our fall performance season.
What happens each day at tryouts? What should I have prepared?
On Saturday dancers will learn all material required for the formal audition. Those auditioning will learn a short Jazz and a short High Kick combination as well as a skills combination that they will perform during final auditions. Formal/final audition will be done in groups of 4-6 dancers. Dancers may be called back multiple times to demonstrate their ability.
How many people make it?
This is different each year! At auditions in the spring, dancers are simply selected for the team as a whole. Placement on Varsity, JV, and B-Squad are done at the beginning of each season.
What is the time commitment to be on ADT?
All summer training is optional but definitely encouraged. There are various technique and master classes as well as team bonding experiences that take place over the course of the June & July months.
Our fall season runs from mid-August to mid-October and practices 4 days per week after school.
The winter season runs from the end of October to mid-February and practices 5 days a week after school.
